1.5: Special things

This activity encourages students to recognise that different people may value different people and things.

Tasks

Ask students to bring in something special to school e.g. teddy bear, photo of their family etc.
Ask students to tell the class why it is special.
Ask students to sit in a circle and complete the following statement: "My special thing is my Nan and Z's (student on the right) special thing is his puppy."
Ask students to write or trace their names on labels and tag their special thing.
Discuss with the class what is special to them:

Teacher Notes

Teacher may need to use a camera to photograph articles that cannot be left at school or use a digital camera to make a slide show of all the articles.
