STAGE 1: Me + You = Us: Activities for Year 1

Stage 1: Me + You = Us: Activities for Year 1 focus on students' relationships with others in various contexts within the school community. 

The selected activities are appropriate for the age and stage of Year 1 students and may be linked to a number of key learning areas, in particular to the NSW Board of Studies syllabuses in Human Society and its Environment (HSIE) and Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE). Related HSIE units include Celebrations, Families past and present and Identifying us. Related PDHPE units include There is only one ME and Getting along with others.  

Recognising Diverse Identities
In this strand the activities encourage students to develop a positive sense of self, recognise diverse identities and empathise with others. » more

Understanding Prejudiced Attitudes and Behaviours
In this strand the activities give students the skills to recognise stereotypes and prejudiced attitudes and behaviours, and to understand their impact on both individuals and their communities. » more
Developing Mechanisms to Deal with Prejudice
In this strand the activities assist students to develop the appropriate skills needed to deal with prejudice and discrimination. » more
